San Marino has published Law Decree No. 52/2020, which entered into force on 20 March 2020 and provides several measures to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19. The Law Decree includes a general suspension of any tax payments to 6 April 2020, without any sanctions. Suspending payments must be paid by the following fifteenth working day.
The Law Decree also provides that tax obligations may be further extended by the State Congress. In this respect, the State Congress has extended the deadlines for the submission of the withholding tax returns and annual general income tax returns for tax year 2019 to 31 August 2020, including for the related tax payment. The deadline for the first advance payment of general income tax for tax year 2020 is also extended to 31 August 2020.
Certain other payment deadlines have also been extended. This includes an extension of the deadline for the payment of the special income tax for tax year 2020 to 31 May 2020 and the deadline for the payment of the extraordinary tax on certain immovable properties to 30 September 2020.
