On 23 February 2023, Honduras signed the Ibero-American Social Security Convention, becoming the 16th signatory to the multilateral convention. The convention will enter into force for Honduras after it completes its internal ratification process and deposits its ratification instrument. The multilateral convention is currently in force for Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, and Uruguay. Other signatories for which the Convention is not yet in force include Colombia, Costa Rica, and Venezuela
