INTRODUCTION

The Republic of Ireland is an island nation located to the northwest of continental Europe. It has established itself as a major international services hub and one of the top investment destinations globally given its attractive tax regimes and incentives, especially in regard to holding companies, IP and R&D. In addition, Ireland has one of the lowest corporate tax rates in the world.

Ireland is a member of the Europeans Union, is an OECD member country, and has a system of law based on common law. Its official languages are English and Irish (Gaelic).

Forbes ranked Ireland fourth in its 2015 list of Best Countries for Business. Ireland is the only country to rank in the survey among the top 15% of nations in each of the Forbes criteria in their rankings: business friendliness, low tax burden, investor protection, and personal freedom.
