2.1. Main Formation Requirements

Key steps to be followed for registering a company are:

  • Reserving company name with the relevant authority and obtaining name reservation certificate
  • Notarizing the company's deed and articles of association from the notary
  • Opening a bank account, depositing initial capital and obtaining deposit proof
  • Filing a single form at one stop shop ("Guichet Unique") along with all required documents. The Mauritanian Government has created a single office for simplifying the business establishment process. This office is attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finances. The form can be downloaded from the website: The form captures information necessary for registration with the Business Registry, the Tax Department, the Social Security Department (Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS)), notification of business commencement, etc.
  • Paying prescribed fees at one stop shop.
