Japan’s Parliament on 28 March 2023 passed into law the Bill for the Partial Revision of the Income Tax Act [in Japanese]. The proposal to implement a Pillar 2 global minimum tax included in the Bill has also been enacted into law with no amendment. Once the law is gazetted, the Income Inclusion Rule (IIR) provided for thereunder will apply for the first time to accounting periods opened on or after 1 April 2024.
