As Vice President of Tax, Jill Ungermann manages Pillar Two compliance across AMG’s global organization, spanning approximately 70–80 entities in 25 jurisdictions, with only one manager supporting her. She was not able to add headcount for the Pillar Two workload, making the ability to run the process efficiently within her existing team essential.
Choosing to Bring Pillar Two In-House
AMG had been preparing for Pillar Two for several years. As the first filing requirements approached, Jill faced an important decision: outsource the compliance process to an accounting firm or build the capability to manage it within AMG’s own tax team or a partnering/hybrid process. AMG was already a Thomson Reuters customer for tax provision (OTP) and income tax (OIT), and that relationship was Jill’s first point of contact with Orbitax. As she began evaluating her options, she also met with several accounting firms to understand what they could offer in terms of partnering, and during that process discovered that many of them were themselves using Orbitax technology. That combination, an established relationship with Thomson Reuters and firsthand confirmation of Orbitax’s standing among the firms she’d trust to advise her, gave Jill confidence to work with Orbitax directly.

Accelerating Implementation with Existing CbCR Data
Bringing Pillar Two in-house also needed to be practical. AMG was approaching its first filing deadline and did not want to spend months building a new data collection and implementation process from the ground up.
Using the Orbitax Pillar Two Compliance Accelerator tool, AMG was able to start with data it had already prepared and validated through its Country-by-Country Reporting process.
The team uploaded its existing CbCR XML into Orbitax, allowing it to reuse validated data as the starting point for the Pillar Two workflow rather than collecting the same information again.

This significantly shortened the path to implementation to around 10 days and allowed AMG to focus its time on completing and reviewing the additional information required for Pillar Two.
From Implementation to First Filing
With the core data and workflow in place, AMG worked with the Orbitax team to complete its implementation, validate the information, and prepare the required filing.
When an unexpected requirement arose involving a Dutch certificate needed for submission, Orbitax helped identify a solution and coordinated with Certified Services Provider Firm, Advance Tax Compliance to keep the filing on track.
For Jill, the filing provided confirmation that an internally managed approach could work even for a lean tax team supporting a complex global organization.

Establishing a Repeatable In-House Process
AMG’s first filing didn’t just meet a deadline under pressure, it proved the process could hold up when time was tight and the team was lean. That reliability is now the foundation for a faster, calmer second cycle.
The underlying data is already in the platform, the workflow has been established, and the team has completed the process once. Future filing cycles can therefore start from that foundation rather than requiring AMG to rebuild the process or hand its data to an external provider each year.
