Austria Abolishing EUR 22 Tax Exemption Threshold for Online Orders from July 2021

Austria's Ministry of Finance has announced that the tax exemption threshold for online orders below a value of EUR 22 will be abolished with effect from 1 July 2021. Currently, such "small packets" originating through distance selling from non-EU countries are eligible for delivery without the collection of any tax, including import VAT, which puts domestic retailers at a disadvantage compared with online retailers from third countries.
