Japan's Ministry of Finance has announced the launch of negotiations for a new income tax treaty with Azerbaijan on 20 May 2021. The treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1986 tax treaty between Japan and the former Soviet Union as it applies with respect to Azerbaijan and Japan.
