Japan to Temporarily Reduced Consumption Tax on Food and Beverages

On 15 September 2026, the Japanese Cabinet approved a temporary reduction in the consumption tax rate on qualifying food and beverages from 8% to 1% for a two-year period from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2029.
