Amending Protocol to Tax Treaty between Cyprus and Sweden Signed

The Cyprus Ministry of Finance has announced the signing of an amending protocol to the 1988 income tax treaty with Sweden on 3 July 2026. The protocol is the first to amend the treaty and includes the following changes:

• The preamble is replaced in line with OECD BEPS standards;
• Article 23 (Mutual Agreement Procedure) is amended, including revised wording to provide that a case may be presented to the competent authority of either Contracting State, instead of just the State of residence;
