The Australian Treasury has published Treasury Laws Amendment (Black 4 Economy Taskforce Measures No. 2) Bill 5 2018 for public consultation. The legislation is intended to create a financial disincentive to businesses making payments to those operating in the black economy by removing tax deductibility of certain payments if the entity making the payment fails to comply with its obligations to withhold and report information to the Commissioner of Taxation.
