Bahrain's Council of Ministers reportedly approved a draft law on 27 September 2021 that provides for an increase in the standard VAT rate from 5% to 10% in order to increase revenue. The draft law has been submitted to the parliament and if approved, the increase is to apply from 1 January 2022.
