On 22 January 2020, officials from Brazil and the UK met to discuss continued negotiations for an income tax treaty. The two sides last met in August 2018 to discuss a possible treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
