On 11 July 2024, Brazil's Senate (upper house of the National Congress) approved the ratification of the pending social security agreement with Bulgaria. The agreement, signed 2 February 2016, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force on the first day of the third month after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
