According to a release from Chile Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Chile and the Philippines met on 8 May 2019 to discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation and agreed to advance negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
