The Chilean Ministry of Finance has announced that as part of the government's tax modernization project, new tax rules will be introduced to provide for the taxation of income of foreign digital service and entertainment providers, such as Netflix, Spotify, Airbnb, and Uber. In addition, customs controls will be strengthened with respect to the import of physical goods purchased via digital platforms from foreign provides in order to ensure proper collections of VAT and customs duties.
