Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump met on 30 October 2025 and agreed to a one-year trade deal. As part of the deal, China will drop export controls on rare earth metals while the U.S. will reduce fentanyl related tariffs from 20% to 10%, with a reduction in overall tariffs on Chinese goods to around 47%.
