According to a release from Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Cyprus and Vietnam met on 8 September 2025 to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation, with the two sides agreeing to promote the signing of an income tax treaty. Negotiations for a treaty first began in 2015. The treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
