With effect from 1 July 2019, Egypt has increased the social security contribution basis cap for basic (fixed) salary to EGP 1,670. Contributions are based on basic and variable salary. For employers, the contributions are 26% on basic salary up to the new monthly basis cap of EGP 1,670 and 24% on variable salary up to a monthly cap of EGP 4,040. For employees, the contributions are 14% and 11% on basic and variable salary, respectively, subject to the same monthly basis caps.
