On 12 September 2023, the European Commission announced the adoption of a new package of proposals to simplify tax rules and reduce compliance costs for cross-border businesses. The package includes the so-called BEFIT proposal that replaces the Commission's CCTB (common corporate tax base) and CCCTB (common consolidated corporate tax base) proposals, which are withdrawn. The package also includes a proposal to harmonize transfer pricing rules within the EU.
