Greece Planning VAT Rates Cuts
On 7 May 2019, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced plans for VAT rate cuts for a number of services. This includes:
- a reduction in the rate for food and drink (restaurant) services from 24% to 13%;
- a reduction in the rate for hotel and accommodation services from 13% to 11%; and
- a reduction in the rate for domestic gas and electricity from 13% to 6%.
