Hungary published Government Decree 496/2022 in the Official Gazette on 7 December 2022, which amends Government Decree 197/2022 on temporary windfall taxes on extra profits. The main amendment concerns the special tax on Petroleum product producers, with an increase in the tax rate from 40% to 95% on the difference between the price of oil purchased from Russia and the international market price (Brent crude) per month with effect from 8 December 2022.
