On 19 December 2014, the Indian Government announced the signing of the first bilateral advance pricing agreement (APA) the country has entered into with a company. The agreement is with a Japanese company, and has a period of 5 years.
India first authorized the possibility of entering into APAs in 2012, with over 140 application received in the first year of the program, and over 230 in the second. The recently announced bilateral APA took a year and half to finalize.
