During their meeting on 28 October 2025, Iraq's Council of Ministers authorized the Ministry of Finance to negotiate and sign an income tax treaty with Lebanon. This follows an earlier authorization in December 2000 that didn't move forward. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
