On 15 April 2019, officials from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on tax residency under the 1996 Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan tax treaty. The agreement was signed through an exchange of notes and provides that official documents issued by the authorized bodies of the Contracting States are recognized as confirming residence without the need for further certification.
