The Lithuanian parliament (Seimas) is considering a draft amendment that would defer the implementation of the new tax (excise duty) on sweetened beverages from 1 January 2026 to 1 January 2027. As previously reported, the tax was introduced as part of the tax reform package for 2026 at varying rates on non-alcoholic sweetened beverages, energy drinks, and beverage concentrates containing added sugar/sweeteners (release).
