On 24 September 2018, officials from Egypt and the Slovak Republic met and agreed to begin negotiations for revisions to the 2004 income tax treaty between the two countries, which has not yet entered into force. It is uncertain if the two sides plan to negotiate an amending protocol to the existing treaty or draft an entirely new treaty. Details will be published once available.
