Russia to Charge Exit Taxes when Residents from Unfriendly Countries Sell Shares in Russian Companies
In a press release of 27 March 2023, the Ministry of Finance stated that foreign persons associated with foreign states that commit unfriendly actions (i.e., impose sanctions) against Russia and Russian legal entities and individuals are subject to a "voluntary" exit tax of up to 10 percent to be paid into the federal budget on the sale of shares in Russian companies.
