On 23 July 2024, the Spanish Council of Ministers approved the ratification of the new social security agreement with the Unites States. The agreement, signed 8 April 2024, will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1986 social security agreement between the two countries.
