Sri Lanka Reduces Threshold for Social Security Contribution Levy

Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department has issued a Notice to Taxpayers on a reduction in the aggregated turnover threshold for the Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) from LKR 15 million per quarter (LKR 60 million per year) to LKR 9 million per quarter (LKR 36 million per year), effective 1 July 2026. It is also provided that the SSCL exemption for the import of motor vehicles is terminated effective 1 May 2026.
