Tax Treaty Negotiations between Japan and Qatar Have Concluded
According to an announcement by the Japanese Ministry of Finance on 17 December 2014, negotiations for a tax treaty between Japan and Qatar have concluded, with both sides agreeing in principal on the treaty.
Under the tax treaty, withholding taxes would apply as follows:
- Dividends - 5% if the beneficial owner holds at least 10% of the paying company's capital
- Interest - 10%
- Royalties - 5%
