On 17 May 2024, officials from Malaysia and Russia signed a new income tax treaty. The treaty will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1987 tax treaty between Malaysia and the former Soviet Union as it applies in relations between Malaysia and Russia. Details of the new treaty will be published once available.
