The Netherlands Launches Consultation on Proposed Sugar Tax

The Dutch Ministry of Finance has launched a public consultation on the introduction of a proposed sugar tax, which includes converting the existing flat-rate consumption tax on non-alcoholic beverages into a tiered tax based on sugar content and introducing a new tiered tax based on sugar content for foods starting in 2030.
