The Mexican Ambassador in Panama announced on 25 September 2006 that negotiations for a first-time tax treaty between Mexico and Panama are scheduled to be initiated in 2006 following the entry into force of the Agreement for the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investment, which was signed by both states on 11 October 2005.
