According to recent reports, officials from the Solomon Islands and Vietnam held a meeting on 7 March 2025, during which Vietnam expressed its interest in negotiating and signing an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
